I'll would make sure the engine's vacuum specs would be compatible with the booster as I don't like the looks of the Hydro-Boost.

I've been looking at photos of trucks with a firewall mount and it's not too crowded.

This is the style of mount I have in my 51. Hydroboost may have been better but I didn't want the extra hoses.

I mounted my booster on my street rod underneath and I never cut a hole in the floor, never liked that idea. Here's my truck's engine with the booster on the firewall and I think it looks fine and easier to maintain. My .02 worth

Both of your systems look great! Very uncomplicated and clean.

I don't plan on hiding the AC and heater hoses coming out of the firewall so I think a few components on either side of the engine will look fine.

I think I have decided to go with a vacuum booster on the firewall. I just need to finalize the mounting method.

I had to cut the pedal end of the new to fit into the firewall anyway.
Laid it out on chip board and traced it. Then put the old pedal arm down and sloooooowly ground and filed down until they mated. Pinned, then tapped the pin holes. Counter sunk screws. Less than 1/16" inch movement thru stroke. Took an entire weekend. I hate it when I come up with these screwy ideas, only to spend hundreds of hours building.
Still beats the best day at work though.

I have had it both way. Currently I have a Wilwood unit mounted on the frame under the body. Once you get your system bleed and assuming you have no leaks there is really no maintenance or reason you need to be fooling with it much. I made a metal cover wrapped in the same leather as my interior. It fastens to the floor utilizing nutzirts in the floor. My floormat covers over this access door. I just wanted at well thought out/functional solution.

There are plenty of remote reservoir systems out there to be able to easily fill under the floor master cylinders without a hassle.

if you get a master cyl with the plastic reservoir you can use the push in hose connectors and a remore reservoir from something else. like Ogre did. just make sure the master cyl matches the brake system you have, disc disc, disc drum, drum drum etc.

there are also kits that give you an aluminum cap to put on a standard style cast master with wire clips for cap. The cap has 2 hose connections and a remote reservoir.

Could make your own with a piece of plate, a drill, tap and some hardware store fittings.

I opted for the firewall for a couple of reasons, but admit that under the floor is cleaner.

nice job. everybody knows you need brakes so a booster on the firewall isn't so bad after all, is it? hydroboost gives awesome boost too.

I'm staying with the under cab setup. I have Wilwood 12.88" disk with 6 piston front and 4 piston rear. I'm running a Wilwood master and prop valve with remote polished reservoirs and hydraulic throwout bearing on my Tremec TKO 600. Duel diaphragm booster with Leed vacuum pump because of my 6-71 on my 292. I'm running electric P/S from EPAS Performance and a 1.5 steering quickener on stock column and box. I'm also running an electric A/C compressor from RenCool in Australia that mounts under the truck with a hortazontal mount remote condenser and spal fan. I have lots of shiny stuff on my 292 and want to keep the engine compartment looking stock. JMHO.

mick, if you put the master under the hood all that shiny stuff would burn the seals outta the master, lol.
your stuff looks awesome by the way. gonna need sunglasses to look under the hood on a sunny day. nice job with the pics too.
