Need a good metal man

Hello my old friends.
Been enjoying my old 70 K10 with tons for a couple of years now. It’s amazing how they are never done.
Then this happened? Does anybody know a good body man?
Yup, I live in the San Bernardino mountains. Now declared a disaster area.

Wow! That's not good. Hopefully the actual damage won't be as bad as it looks.

Re: Need a good metal man

So by the lack of replies I’ll take that to mean there no good metal men out there.
My insurance gave money to get this fixed. I have looked around and almost all of the body shops out there will only do insurance work. I have offered to pay cash. The closest thing I have found is someone with a big can of bondo and I need to bring an interpreter.
Are you telling me there are no real body men in Southern California?

Please help an old guy out.

By the way I have posted free Suburban / Truck parts classified section. Remember FREE!!!

Re: Need a good metal man

They are hard to find. The insurance companies control most auto body shops and they put a ton of pressure on the shops not to accept work like yours. Their aim is to get the vehicle totaled and sent to scrap.

Competent, reliable body metal repair techs command a premium price. I recommend contacting car clubs in your area for recommendations both good and bad.
Hopefully you will get lucky but, if not, expect a lot of leg work.

Are you expecting to have to replace the roof?

Re: Need a good metal man

Work at a body shop in Moorpark, Ca. About two hours from you. My boss and friend I have known for over 30 years does a lot of work others do not want to do. Paint and bodywork on my 72 with me (see my build thread). By your single pic there is no idea what damage is. Almost anything can be fixed with time and $. Not saying it will cost a lot, no idea without looking at it. PM me if you want to talk. I can pretty much guarantee the insurance money will not cover the repairs, especially if done on their "app". Have to do at least 1 or 2 supplements on every insurance job now to cover repairs.
