It's at a local body shop in town, asking $1,500. I was thinking more like $1,000. Says it run. New rockers, and front pans. Not really that rusty. No front seats. Tires look decent.

In all honesty, if its not that rusty, I would jump on it for $1500. Of course you can always offer less and go from there, but if its a solid body its going to save you a ton of $$ and time in body work.
Be sure that you check the window frame for rust. And make sure no one has slopped bondo onto it.

My 2cents. From your description, $1500 sounds like a good price. Looks as though its got maybe a 4 inch lift. The roll bar looks to be maybe out of a '76 or later blazer. You can always start with a lower bid and come up, but 1500 doesn't sound bad. If the rockers and panels were done right, you're way ahead.

Here's a few more pics. Front fenders have little rust in lower section and for some reason holes up front behind where the bumper goes. Floor pans are just tacked in, and the rockers look done but need floor work on the inside that runs into them. Around window looks good. Top has a small hole. Back floor looks real good. One patch looks cruddy, what it's for ? black paint beside it, not a hole. Needs another patch on driver side.

Hope these pics arn't to big. Dial up sucks.

It is fairly easy to replace the fenders. The hard part is welding the rockers. I would start at $1000 and see what they say, they may say yes. If not you can work your way up if you are still interested.
It does look like there has been some shoddy body work though. Check it out real well.

I paid $1000 for mine and the bed floor's rusty, rocker boxes are 75% non existent and it has a few bullet holes in it (for lightening the sheetmetal of course :p ). I can drive it daily when I need to and it's way more fun than my 98 Ram. It's REAL hard to find one at that price, in this part of the country, that isn't an end-stage cancer victim!

only thing i can see wrong is the 203 tranfercase,with is reallynot a bad xcase,just not factory,and it looks like the rear is out of a newer blazer.
if thats as bad as it gets, i think it wound`t be too bad of a buy..

Am I missing something? How do you know it has a 203? They aren't a bad case, just not as strong or desireable as a 205. Personally, I'd rather have a 203 than a 208, actually, I do! My '69 has a 203 in it!

as to how i think i know what case is in it,thats a 203 shifter sticking out of the floor.

Definatly not the stock shifter! My 203 shifter is further forward, but it does sit to the right like that one. Good eye!

Do you know what you're going to do with it if you got it?- keep it a beater? mudder? Daily driver? show truck? monster truck? 6 month project? 5 year project? Do you have a lot of money to spend? Do you want to spend a lot of money?
Just a few questions I'd ask before I bought one- plus, LaPorte IN isn't known for salt-free roads in the winter- Did this push a plow? I'd walk in with $800 cash, and work up- maybe negotiate some free bodywork since it's at a body shop- before I gave him the final negotiated price!!!
Either way, Good Luck! How far wrong can you go?

It's got no rocker boxes. look at the one shot where you can see the new rockers and floors. if you look at the seam where the rocker meets the floor you can see the pavement under the truck.

RUN AWAY unless your prepared to take the body off and put in new rocker boxes. If you take the roof off that truck it will bend and the doors will not line up.
