Power Steering pump belt
Anyone have any suggestions as to why my belt keeps popping off? It seems to occur anywhere from 3500 up to 6500...and it popped off yesterday just cruising down the highway at 70....no throttling it----it just came off.
The belt is new----pullies are aligned---not bent....not wet...

Too tight or too loose will cause the belt to pop off, in my expirience.

Cheap belts come off easier than the expensive ones. Once a belt has been thrown off & stretched, it will come off a lot easier after that. You might try a good Dayco top cog, but adjust the alignment, if possible and if you keep turning over 5K rpm you may want to run a smaller crank pulley to slow everything down.

One other thing you might check into is pulleys from a 70's era big block. My 71 454 vette had deeper groove pulleys on it. John

Thanks John--I think I have those now----I bought the oem Truck BB accessories and pulley's when I did the switch to my 502. I looked at it today again and the PS pulley is slightly warped---it wobbles just a tad....maybe time for a new billet pulley...well then that means other Billet pulleys---then I need to match it with a new pump----then braided lines----crap....I guess I am not going to get lunch for the next month!
