My experience is still limited. I only installed it for the parking brake aspect. To another point made in this thread, it has a screw gear that slowly engages the brakes and probably wouldn’t amount to much in an emergency situation.
I’m still working on my truck so haven’t tried it in that way yet. Holds tight when parked in my driveway and doesn’t budge.
For the power out or dead battery, it gives an annoying and constant tone letting you know the battery power is getting low. As for disengaging, you do have to jump or charge your battery to get it to work again.
