Bought AC for the truck

Now I have to figure out how to put it all in.

Bought it from Old Air Products. Bobby was a huge help in getting me what I need. Good company to deal with.

The packaging was great. Came in this big box with smaller boxes protecting all the extra stuff. Here is it all unpacked after going through the boxes.

















It's all going in this, I started some last night but had other things to do. I got the radiator drained, grill removed and stared at it for a bit.






I'll update this thread as I go along in installing this. I'm looking forward to having ac and using the truck more. It's just too dang hot here to not have ac.

I did the same thing a couple weeks ago. Also went with Old Air.

One thing I would recommend doing is running two relays that are switched on from the fuse block to provide power for the a/c system. Originally, I ran the power wires to my fuse block and ended up melting the ignition switch plug and having all sorts of charging issues because the factory wiring size isn't big enough to run the a/c. The relays fixed my problem, and frankly I should have just done that to begin with

Ok not a bad few hours, unit is mounted and onto the next steps. A few things were an annoyance, the plate that bolts to the unit didn't line up, I had to open the holes. I didn't have a 1-1/4 drill bit so I had to drill out 7/8 then use a die grinder to get it big enough. Not thier fault. The tape you have to wrap around the pipe for the sensor is a ***** and they didn't say in the instructions the unit was under pressure so when I took the fitting off it shot out and scared the crap out of me. Otherwise I'll have to mod my glovebox (known value) and move my ignition box.



Good for a laugh I had to remove the patch I welded in when I removed the stock system.

I already have an aftermarket harness I installed a few years ago and it has some pretty stout wiring in place for ac but I'll definitely double check that. Thanks for the heads up.

You might be in better shape than I was wiring wise. I have a reproduction fuse block that uses the stock size wiring, so that's where my issue was coming from. Hopefully you won't have the same problem!

up the wiring while I was there then I mounted the controls and redid a couple of non ac things that have been bugging me. The console is just loosely installed as I have more to do behind it. Should get all the wiring done tomorrow and the ducts run that will finish up the inside then go out under the hood.

Yeah, I built that a couple years ago, eventually I'll build a center console that will meet it and go between the seats.

What do you mean you had your grill support out? You removed the core support?

I did remove the grille, but I did not remove the grille support panel or radiator core support. I didn't struggle much at all with the install.

I didn't even remove the radiator in an attempt to save my coolant. Ended up having to replace the radiator hoses because the incorrect flex hoses weren't gonna work with the a/c belt. Having the radiator out makes it easier though

I used most of that same kit on mine. I did pull the grill and radiator, went together with no issues.

What do you mean you had your grill support out? You removed the core support?

The grill support. The part that your grill mounts to

I wasnt a fan of the under dash vents so i bought these and cut my dash. I decided to move my air fuel gauge and add a vent over there. Not sure I'm happy with my decision but what's done is done.



Once the y comes in I'll finish the interior then go under the hood. I have to relocate my coil packs and fuel system so more of the same. Half of my time has been spent installing the ac and the other have removing and relocating things lol
