2023 Beach Day
Just thought I'd post a pic of my uncle's 69 C30 with Franklin camper and my 67 C20 enjoying a Sunday beach day.

Re: 2023 Beach Day
That's awesome, nothing like the beach and some C/10 action.

Re: 2023 Beach Day
Too Cool! Looks like the C30 laughs at the camper saying, "Is that all you got?"

Re: 2023 Beach Day
You are mostly correct, desert-rat…you have to know where to go or be lucky as I was to be born and raised in one of the nice beach areas like this one: Torrance Beach; nestled between Palos Verdes and Redondo Beach. Sorry my picture doesn’t show the sand, so you’ll have to take my word for it…VERY CLEAN!

Re: 2023 Beach Day
I lived in San Pedro near 25th + Western back when I was in the Navy. Had a friend whose parents bought a big house on a hillside in Palos Verdes for $60K, which might as well have been a million bucks for me back then.
I'd look up that house's value if I had the address. However, even little 1,000 sq ft houses near where we lived, which cost around $25K back then, are now selling for over $1 million. Funny, but I just had a flashback. Their neighbor had a couple late 50s/early 60s Corvettes and was a Fuel Injection Specialist who actually did contract work for at least one Chevy dealer. I still remember him having shelves full of complete units and parts in his garage. How cool was that? Super cool Suburban!

My parents house cost $6,999.00 new in 1952 and was only 860 sq ft…today, the lot alone is worth a million! Go figure??? I still remember the days (before the internet and E-Bay) where you could occasionally find a Rochester Fuel Injection unit sitting in a box under a table at someone’s yard sale…for around $50!!! Even today, I look inside every box when I go to a yard sale because “you never know what you’ll find”? My wife and I traveled through TX on our way home from TN this year…and the parts we saw were beautiful and filled with incredibly nice people! CA is home and we feel as though our time to make a big move is behind us now…but if I were a younger man, I’d vacate pronto (however, the year-round beach weather would be tough to leave!). Woody |

And since we're being nostalgic, how about a new 69 Z28 at the Chevy dealer there for right at $4,000 sticker price? I ended up buying a 70 Nova Sport Coupe with a 350/4-speed for $2,700, and even that was was a stretch! Enjoy your 'Burb and the beach!

Re: 2023 Beach Day
Beautiful trucks!
I’d like to see more pictures of your uncle’s truck. I have my eyes a 71 C-30. It’s a long wheel based truck, but I’d cut it down to the standard length and ale it’s a Dually. |
