I am currently stripping my frame down so I can take it to get blasted and painted. What is the best was to take the coil springs out? Right now I have everything elese off the truck so i am just working with a rolling chassis

Fronts - Either unbolt the lower control arm or pop the lower ball joint.
Rears - Disconnect the trailing arms from the u-bolts. There are also retainers inside the spring top & bottom that need removed. On both, loop a length of chain through the spring, keeps it from flying out. Easiest way is to use your torch. They need replaced, anyhow.

On the front, if you have the engine out and the body off, the springs won't have much resistance, and thus, when you pop the ball joint or undo the control arm, there won't be enought weight to contain the spring. You'll need to rent spring compressors from your local auto parts to retain them.

In the rear, there is no need to mess with the u-bolts on a coil spring truck. The spring has nothing to do with the u-bolts back there.

Thanks Blue68, that is exactly what I was thinking, I did not want to pop the lower ball joing and have a accident of some sort.
