lowering ls motor mounts?
I know this horse has been beat over and over, but I have found many are having the same problem I am, but I have not seen any threads with a solution. Does anyone make motor mounts that will set an LS lower in between the frame rails? I have a 6.0l/4L80 on GM BBC stands in a 67 SWB. At ride hight my engine sits tilted back 6 degrees, my drive shaft down at 1 degree, and my diff is 2 degrees. I am getting a bad vibration about 60 and need to correct my u joint angles. I have my trans up as high as i can get it (high hump), and would like to drop the motor mounts down to help with the angle. I am running a F-body oil pan and I have plenty of room for it to come down (about 2 inches). Anyone know of any motor mount stands that would sit lower? BTW, i cant remember where i got the trans crossmember but it is one of those M shaped tubular ones to clear the exhaust. I could shim the diff but i would rather not, I dont want a lot of u joint angle

Re: lowering ls motor mounts?
Is your driveshaft running uphill or downhill? I just rotated my axle so the driveshaft goes uphill. I have it set at 2.5 degrees if I recall.

Re: lowering ls motor mounts?
I have the stock small block motor mounts in my truck with the ICT Billet adapter plates and my motor is at 3 degrees down. I have the Holley 302-1 pan which is similar in depth to the F-body pan I believe. I've never measured the gap from pan to crossmember, but its fairly close. There's plenty of room for comfort, but I don't think I'd want it any closer.

Re: lowering ls motor mounts?
The Hooker/Holley LS stands and mounts keep things low. Check em out

Re: lowering ls motor mounts?
Have you considered stock 73-87 perches with clamshell mounts?

Re: lowering ls motor mounts?
I built my own mount setup with some poly mounts from ebay. got it to set pretty low. made a pair of plates for the frame like a 73-87 style for them to weld to.

Re: lowering ls motor mounts?
Read through my thread. I just went through this. My starting engine angle was 6.7. Got it down to 3 deg.

Re: lowering ls motor mounts?
My engine is 6 degrees down and the rear is 5.8 degrees up. My problem was a low trans hump.
