removing hood springs to prevent hood bend

Weak would make the hood not stay up .

Whats different about yours? This is a common problem with people with squarebodys. I have a '80 with new hinges and new springs and its stiff as a board. Im having to push one side in and start it down, then go to the other side and do the same and do this a couple times until its about half way. Then I can shove it in at one time and close it. PITA. Definitely no closing this one with one hand.

All it takes is oil, and not that often either. I haven't oiled any hinges in a few years but they still open and close nice and smooth with one hand. I have thought about making a video of how easy these hoods are supposed to open and close. You don't want to know what I think of people with bent hoods.
