Bench Seat Reupholster

I am considering replacing buckets seats with a bench seat in my step side.
Has anyone used the LMC Premium Leather and Vinyl bench seat reupholster kit? Cost of kit is $900, plus the Seat Cushions @ $350.
I have a bench seat that I can use.
Just looking for opinions of how they look and fit.
I will also get prices for custom made covers and would have more options of colors and style.

Re: Bench Seat Reupholster

I had my 83 C20 bench seat rebuilt and recovered with fabric very close to (if not identical to) the factory material. You should check with your local upholstery shops to see what they can do.

I had the upholsterer install denser and thicker seat foam to prolong the useful life of the seat and it worked out well.

The price at LMC is way too much for what you get, plus you still have to do the work yourself.

Thanks, I will go to an upholsterer to have my bench seat done. I'm leaning away from the factory look and something more custom and also the door panels to get away from the velour

Re: Bench Seat Reupholster

When it comes to leather, I would definitely see a local upholstery shop. That set from LMC is crazy expensive. Now I just got the all vinyl one from LMC, $189, to do a bench seat. I haven't tried this route out yet, of doing the work myself. I'm curious of the outcome, as far as fit. The cost of a reupholstering from my local guy is $250 and that includes the material, vinyl & cloth. He has done 2 bench seats for me in the past. But I'm sure there would be a price increase for leather.

Re: Bench Seat Reupholster

I bought the cloth/vinyl "factory" seat upholstery from LMC a few years back. If I recall they included "hog rings" and pliers with the kit. The fit/ look was amazing. I would have sworn the seat came right from the GM factory when complete. Only issue is the quality. Its only been about three years, and the upholstery has split at the seam on the drivers side where the cloth meets the vinyl. I don't drive this truck often, and was disappointed as the original cover never split in this area after 30 years of use....

LMC has a youtube video with that product. It looks like it doesn't fit as snug as it should.
