4wd Blazer to 2wd Blazer

I know this is a blazer, but I need the truck guys info.

1st question: I have a 72 blazer and I was wondering if it will fit on a 71 or 71 truck frame?

2nd question: If I keep my frame, should I keep the front diff, rear diff, 4 speed trans, transfer case all together to sell?

It is not a direct swap, you will have to shorten the truck frame, change body mounts and add a few holes. For me it is less work to just covert the Blazer frame to 2WD.

I have found parting out piece by piece yields the best return

Thanks for the info. Should I keep my rear end when I go 2WD or is it more for a 4wd set-up?

It all depends on your goals. I have found the easiest and least costly is to simply relocate the 4X4 rear end to on top of the springs, off set drill the spring perch centering hole 1 inch, and install 5 lug axles shafts and drums.
Here are a couple of examples of the ride height of the 4X4 to 2WD axle flip from a couple of the Blazers I have converted

Those look really good. I was going to go to coils and trailing arms, but the axle flip and maybe blocks is a great idea.

Where is the cheapest place you have found for getting the 5 lug axles?

If you decide to add blocks and go lower you will need to C notch the frame. Trailing arms will work, BUT it is a lot more work as the 4X4 frames are straight over the rear axle and the 2wd frame "bulge out" so you will have to fabricate a crossmember and coil spring mount

I usually purchase an entire 71/72 1/2 ton 2wd parts truck and use all the components

Guys: It's a 4wd vehicle. You are going the wrong direction. Suppose to go up with 4wd vehicles, not down!

I would try selling the trans and transfer case as a unit

I wrecked my 4X4 in 2007 and almost got rid of it when I found a frame a fella had started to make into 2wd. Of course the rear trailing arms did not fit the 4x4 framd and I should have bagged it then but I was very low on funds. So I just put the original rear from my 4X in with the leaf springs. Later on I might get a custom rear setup but for now, my thinking, is that it is good enough for Camaros and most muscle cars as well as 4X4s. I'm not big on cut down frames. I know this will spark the great debate. Sorry. Aint gonna do it.
