Door Edge Protectors. Pros and Cons

In regards to the Stainless Steel Door Edge Protectors.
Are they worth installing, on a freshly painted truck?
What I want to hear are the Goods and the Bads.
I have them on my truck now (Which is badly in need of new paint), but since they just press on, and are held in place by squeezing on the painted edge, so there’s the risk of damaging the new paint.
What do y’all think?
Use them, or no?

NO! Unless you plan to slam your doors into the vehicle parked next to you.

Can you tell I hate the things? They also can damage your paint and break the visual flow of the side of your shiny freshly painted truck.

Very good points. I knew the likelihood of gouging the paint edge, but “Breaking up the Visual flow” is spot on, and I never thought about it that way.
One other concern I have is, that they don’t exactly stay in place like they’re supposed to.
Thanks for the insight

Same opinion here also. Never use them on a vehicle/car you care about

Re: Door Edge Protectors. Pros and Cons

I had them on my first truck, and removed them when I had a repaint. Other than being "another option" I also say, no. If you want any type of protection, just do a 3M or similar clear adhesive.
