67 suspension height/drop question

Hey everyone. I posted in another thread about completely rebuilding my front end.

Well, I’m deep in this thing and discovering little things along the way. Upon tearing everything apart, it seems the last owner was using or installed McGaughy 2.5 drop spindles and what looks like cut OEM front coils. For me, the truck as it sat was way too low. I really like the 2.5/4” stance I see on this board as the truck is a bit more useful driving around for me.
However…this truck has been C notched in the rear, and it looks like a 6” drop. So basically it originally looked like a 4/6” drop.

I’ve also decided to go with CPP tubular control arms, upper and lower.

So… should I simply go with OEM height springs all around? OEM height just on the front? What brand is good? Moog? POL? CPP?

What will I need to do on the back?

Original coils on front and 4" drop springs in back assuming you have a coil spring trailing arm rear suspension.
The good thing is you can tune the rear up with drop blocks if you want to drop the rear a bit more.
If you install new orig springs in the front run them for awhile until they settle in.
I found it took a few weeks and then you can set the rear for the rake you want.

Thank you! I noticed CPP has a complete F/R spring kit with shocks and brackets with choice of drop. I think I’m going that way.

Sounds good! I ended up with the 2.5" drop spindle in front with stock replacement springs and 4" drop springs in the back plus a 1" drop block to achieve the look I was after.
Please keep us up to date as I'm considering the CPP control arms so I can get the castor/camber adjustment correct.

My truck has 2.5”’drop spindles up front with new oem height moog springs. Rear has 4” drop, progressive rate springs.

Didn't say whether you have long or short box truck. Anyway just recently done is my 72 Long bed with a 2 1/2 dropped spingle up front and retained the original springs and control arms etc. Out back like you thought a 4 inch spring drop would give me the look I wanted but back was lower than front when installed so changed them for 3 inch rear springs. Used shock relocators out back as well. Tires are 255/60 17 all the way around. ic on hoist is with the 4 inch rear spring.

You sure are right, I didn’t reference the wheelbase. I apologize for that. Mine is a short bed, so I’m hoping I can get a nice gentle rake look.

I ordered the CPP kit with the shocks a 0 drop F and 4” drop R and they said that will give me the look I want. I also am running a LS swap which is probably a bit heavier in the front then the normal C10 setup by 50-75 pounds.

Worse case I can swap the springs out in the back if it’s not right.
