1987 2WD Dually 4door to 6door
Picked up this four-door Dually project truck a few years ago. Was able to find a bed for it. Had to redo the heads on the 454 and a bunch of odds and ends, but got it going after a few months.

Mostly used it for taking the kids to church. I found a company that sells a bedliner for a pool and that quickly became their favorite activity. We live in a small town so I was able to take them to get ice cream while they were in their mobile pool.

Re: 1987 2WD Dually 4door to 6door
Sadly, I took the truck to work and left it parked out on the street overnight. In the middle of the night it was broadsided and I was never able to find out who did it. Messed up the passenger front door enough that I cannot get it to open And the front fender got messed up a little too. They hit it hard enough that it moved the truck over a foot sideways so I’m hoping it didn’t bend the door support portion of the cab.

Re: 1987 2WD Dually 4door to 6door
I was able to find a Suburban of the same year and paint scheme to rob sheet-metal off of. At that point life got super busy with six kids and the truck has just been sitting for the last couple years.
Now my oldest is 16 years old, 6’-6”, 210 pounds. My 14-year-old is 6’-2” and 185 pounds. Needless to say my family of eight no longer fits in my four-door so that got me thinking instead of robbing sheet-metal off the suburban why not cut them both up and make a six door truck.

Something like one of these. That way we all fit comfortably and legally.

Re: 1987 2WD Dually 4door to 6door
I found a thread here on the forms of a guy making a mega cab out of a suburban.
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=682943 That’s what got me thinking about this project more seriously. I had dismissed the idea earlier, because of the roofline of the suburban is higher than the truck, but he was able to cut the raised portion of the roof off and re-skin to make it look like a truck top. What do you guys think? Should I try this with a suburban or would it be better to find another crew cab to splice together?
