Question 1969 C 10 Hurst Indy shifter

Mine wouldn't go in reverse today . Before I crawl under the truck I wanted to ask if anyone has any advice . Put this shifter in the floor Nov 2001 . Hoping it just needs adjustment ? Price sure has gone up . Thanks !

Might need shift rod bushings, especially if they are nylon.

You're welcome! The nylon bushings make for a quieter cabin, but wear out a lot faster then the bronze(?) bushings.

Go to YouTube and search for GearBoxVideo. This is Paul Cangialosi's channel and he is an expert in the Muncie M20, M21, and M22 transmissions. In one of his videos he recommends using the steel bushings over the nylon ones. I bought some and am happy with the fit and feel of the shifts.

WOW !! Super easy fix . Just a loose 9/16 nut on a thru bolt that goes in the body of the shifter . I've had trouble with that quite a few years ago . Soon as I buy a new bottle of Loctite my old truck will be back on the road . THANKS !!

I’ve never used loctite on those. Always safety wired them by drilling a hole right thru the nut and stud and putting a cotter key in.

Thanks Geezer, but I'm thinking loctite should last long enough to suit me.
