Re: Back to the fifties with a 59 project
Started a floor patch. I didn't see the point of spending close to $100 for a patch I would only use a small part of so I'm just using metal I have. It won't look factory but nobody will probably ever notice.

Re: Back to the fifties with a 59 project
I have to fix above the windshield some spots but I'm gonna take a break from the welding, cutting, grinding. Would like to remove the cab and finish the frame cleanup and suspension.

Re: Back to the fifties with a 59 project
Got a late 70s camero rear end and got it bolted up moved to the top of the springs, not welded until I set the pinion angle etc. Fab up me some leaf spring plates. Got it centered and good enough be able to make it roll. Got to work on shock mounts still maybe a small c notch not sure yet. Also planning on do a disc brake conversion since the price isn't really that much more than totally rebuilding all the drum brakes.

Re: Back to the fifties with a 59 project
I really haven't even noticed, but it needs weight on the front to get everything where it needs to be. It is stiff up front with everything new and i ordered the upper end of stiff coil springs. I will probably end up cutting a little off of them but i'm waiting till i get all the weight on it and they have time to settle.

Re: Back to the fifties with a 59 project
Built some motor mounts and mocked them up. Not a professional job but I made with what I had and a welder and a grinder. I'm not as happy with the driver side it was a little different mounting wise but I think I'm gonna leave it.

Re: Back to the fifties with a 59 project
Got the trans crossmember fitted and welded on some mounts and mocked in place. It came from speedway motors universal 2in drop crossmember very happy with it.

Re: Back to the fifties with a 59 project
engine mounts look fine. curious what your driveline angle is now. angle at pinion should match but be opposite the angle at the trans. that way the vibrations cancel each other.

Re: Back to the fifties with a 59 project
if you needed to by steel for that i suggest square tubing with a decent wall thickness, then cut one side off to open it up. works well.

Re: Back to the fifties with a 59 project
I like the amount of space the 6 cylinder gives for the steering column to rack gives, should be a straight shot.
