Re: Interesting auction: 702 toro flow v12

I had the "tiny" 305 V6 in a 66 1/2 ton GMC. It was a fun and interesting engine.

That Toroflow would be a monster. I think it would also take monster money to get it running.

I don't think I ever knew there was a V12 Toroflow

I stumbled across a story on those just recently. Interesting beast. there's lots of information on them and much nicer pictures if you google search it.

There was not. The 637 V-8, which replaced the 702, was built in gas and Toroflow diesel versions.

Re: Interesting auction: 702 toro flow v12

Toro flow was the name given to diesels because of the toroidal air flow into combustion chambers. As special-K and Bob B. correctly mentioned, V 12's were never converted to diesel. It would have been interesting if they were, it would have been a 4 cycle diesel vs. of the 2 cycle Detroits GM used in their heavy duty line up.

Yep I'm an idiot and forgot about that. For some reason I got the marketing wrong and thought toroflow was for big engines or big trucks, sorry.

If I keep getting crap like this wrong the Heavy Hauler guys are gonna come take my membership away lol

Nah. It's not the most commonly known information. It was still an interesting engine at auction and you learned something new. Though perhaps awkwardly . Hey, a sloppy ringer still counts as a ringer
