'72 big block engine stands?

Can anyone confirm these as '72 big block stands? These are in a '67, and the frame has been notched along the top edge. Is a '72 frame shaped a little different there? Someone had pics posted a while back, but I can't do a search for them. Thanks

They look like 73-up that have been "made" to fit to me. 72 stands should require no frame modifications in the area hacked up. 73-up stands are taller due to frame height differences. The mod made to frame looks like what one would do to make the taller stands "lay out" in the proper position. My 2 cents

I don't want to sell them right now, Wes, but if I change my mind, I'll let you know.
CPNE- I was wondering the same thing. So the '72 frame is exactly the same as a '67 in this area?

You just can't slip many past CPNE I think he is right, again. See if these help. They do have the engine cups attached, so a little hard to see.

The 67-72 frames should be the same in that area.

Frame stands

I have had 2 67 I6 frames that did not get narrower where the frame stands bolt in. The V8 frames I see at the junk yards are all narrower where the stands bolt in. By narrower I mean the top surface only.

Actually, the 67 frames were in fact different. They did not have the provisions for the big block.
On the passenger side frame rail on all 68 & up frames, there is a spot that is flaired up...the spot that your lower rad hose always rubs. That is not on a 67 frame. This is clearance for the fuel pump.
Is that where your frame was cut up?
Here's a shot of the 73 & up towers, one is cut. The notch on the lower corner is not supposed to be there. I had to do that for the Caddy engine.

Good call, I didn't look back to the original pic.
I have only looked at 2 67's, and neither one had that portion. Are we sure that is a 67 frame?
One pic shows where to find the frame VIN to verify the year, and the other pic shows the other difference between the 67 and 68 frames. The indentation for the later power steering gear box.

Man you guys don't miss a thing! i'll have to double check, but the previous owner swore that it was a '67. It does have a big back glass. hmmm....
The stands do resemble the 73 and up though.

Frame and Stands

The picture you posted shows a 67 frame cut out to accept 73&up stands.
The frame stands shown are not 72 but 73 & up.

Those Are 73 & Up Stands. Look At The Top Flange. The Bolt Holes Are About 2" Closer Together On 72 Stands Than They Are On Later Stands. :d :d :d John
