Question about brake lines

Have a 70 jimmy need to no if it takes one brass washer or 2 .
One on both sides of the t connection.

It should have one on each side. They are actually copper.

What are you connecting the "T" to?

I'm used to seeing washers on AN lines, not on lines with a double flare. Am I missing something?

I'm confused too. This is out of my area of expertise (as if I had one!). I assumed it would be a flared fitting with no washer.

center bolt looks like it might be a banjo....which they don't usually have...unusual for a brake line T
if it is, it does need copper washers...
the lines are flared fittings, no washers needed

I replaced mine exactly like it came off. Whether it was right in the first place?? It works

I could see that the large center bolt was a banjo style bolt so That's why I answered the way I did. I have never seen that setup either, that is why I asked about it. Thanks for the pictures CKfan.

You only used the one brass washer.

If I remember correctly, it was one copper washer on each side of the block but I can't be sure. I already deleted my disassembly pictures

I haven't ever seen that fitting on any truck! A union with a banjo bolt to the frame? Whats on the other side of the frame? Have a pic? A banjo bolt feeds something via a hole through the length of the bolt... What's on the other side?

Gary 70 Jimmy and my 69 chevy K10 have the same D/S union (banjo?) to front brake line setup. I also have a 70 K10 with the same set up.

I am no brake line expert, I just put them back like I found them if they worked in the first place and can Not say for certain if they are factory but it would be one heck of a coincidence.

I have the same set up on my 70 k10. I am adding 72 front discs and the front flex brake lines will not connect to this. Anyone know if there is an adapter available?

The holes in the frame are in a different spot on the 1971 I had that problem when I got a 1971 frame for my 1970 jimmy. Bought all new stainless steel brake lines for 1970 before I realized the holes in the frame.

Thanks for the reply. Thought someone would make an adapter to join the two. In-line tube makes a front brake line kit for a 71. Might have to try that and drill a couple holes.

I now wish I didn't do this, but I pulled the banjo apart because I noticed I had placed the nut that holds the D/S brake hose to the frame on the wrong side (outside instead of on inside where it goes). The clip goes on the outside which I did not have in place. If I get this back together without a leak I will be shocked!

Oh-Ho! I was thinking copper washers for the flared seats. My mistake. I learned something, too.

All back together leak free. Thank goodness Napa was open till 3 today and had copper washers.

I have learned in the past, never re-use them, it will come back to bite you sometimes.

I hope this helps someone as I rarely see these "banjo" connections and hope I don't have many in my future.

I am sure I will have some leaks put all new brake lines on mine.

If you buy 71 brake lines they come with a return line that's not on your 1970 and the brake lines on the back axle come down front the bottom of the bed. Their are more thing that are different. Maybe you can just get the front ones that go thru the frame on the back side of front the axle.

Searched everywhere could not find an adapter. Ordered new brake lines. Probably a good idea to swap them all out anyways.

I put 1972 brake lines on my 1970. Very little was even remotely similar. Fortunately, I have a 1972 frame that supplied all of the brackets, fittings and showed proper placement. I used the 1970 style red frame clips from the front to back line that are also shared the fuel line.
