Gear Selector repair?
Anybody had their plastic (thread) area that controls the gear elector for the transmission break off the plastic housing?
I was trying to re- attach mine today and while testing it, after getting it reassembled, I guess the THREAD (cut through, or pulled too hard on the plastic piece) and it broke off? Yes I realize it is 50 year old plastic If you have fixed one how did you fix it? I read some where, at some point, somebody was using a glue ( don't remember what kind) and then putting baking soda on it to cure it to make it super strong??

Re: Gear Selector repair?
you may be able to rig up a metal tab and a bolt with a sleeve on it. Attach the tab to your cluster, so it hangs down a little with the bolt and the sleeve for the cable to slide over. Hope this helps. Or at least get the ball rolling

Re: Gear Selector repair?
I can't find it now but several years ago i read about a plastic epoxy that would work.
The pictures showed the epoxy being used to glue and mold broke off parts just like yours. I hope someone here remembers the stuff i am talking about.

Re: Gear Selector repair?
A sheetmetal screw with a "roller" element for the cable to ride on is how I have found a few trucks being fixed before.
