Is it pretty much a easy bolt on swap or do I have to deal with getting different headlight buckets and turn signals as well?
What concerns me is the headlight buckets and connectors... I'll probably have to also get new buckets for the different headlights and then configure two for the low beams and make up another connector for the highs? I'm not sure. Anyone here done it? Any details would be appreciated. |

Re: Replacing a 94 Cheyenne C1500 grill for a 94 Silverado grill
Although a different year I recently converted my 1997 work truck grille with sealed beam headlights over to the Silverado grille with composite headlights and it was very easy to do. I got a wiring kit off ebay from a seller named highbeamkits and he puts together a kit with all the correct bulb sockets and required screws that you need to do the swap. He had it labeled on ebay as 88 98 Work Truck To Silverado Grill Install Kit 38Pc Parking Side & Head Lights. It was easy to do with a meter you just figure out the high beam positive and low beam positive in the wiring to the original headlight then just put on the new plugs to those wires and share the ground to the low and high bulb socket. I then stripped back some of the shielding and soldered onto the park light wires to get the side markers working. You do not need new buckets for the headlights as you just order a complete headlight assembly and it comes ready to go. You will also need the corner lenses and the front turn signal marker assembly. My lower grille trim from my work truck grille fit perfectly with the Silverado grille. I got everything through rock auto but you could also get it all from LMC.

Thanks for the detailed information.... I'm going to do it! I was worried about not having the separate high and low beam wiring coming from a single plug but sounds the kit is a good solution. I'll check both places and see what looks to be the best/price. Good to know the buckets are all with the grill assy. I'll have to look into the side marker lights but shouldn't be a prob. Thanks again. |

Yes that looks fantastic. Hopefully your conversion was straight forward. I did the same conversion and for me it changed the entire look of my truck also.

I am a fan of your original look, but it does look good with your new(ish) grill and all!
