68 c10 Gold and White Short bed
Just getting started on this truck. I enjoy finding these old cars/trucks fixing a few things then sending them down the road. Picked this up on a Dairy farm Randleman NC and was told it sat at a shop in Asheboro for years.
I am sure someone hates they sold this as it is in pretty good shape. Engine is 327/auto and runs good. I need to install new carb and put power brakes on it. My plans are to drop it a few inches. Not sure if I will do a 5 lug conversion or leave it 6 lug. I have a square body donor if I decide on 5 lug. I have new door hinges to install. I have pulled the dent out of passenger rear and have a new lower passenger fender extension for front fender. Passenger rocker will be on my list to fix and I will touch up Patina paint with spray bomb. Got my son to help wash off the years of dirt and grime. I might decide to keep this one??? Only seen one gold and white 68 at the c10 revival, may have been more. hope to have this ready in a few months to drive around. Great site with lots of information What do you guys think about my new project? |

Nice truck! Let’s see some more pictures.

Re: 68 c10 Gold and White Short bed
I love when a truck sits so long it looks worse than it really is. Between looking bad and the seller knowing it's sat going downhill and decided they need it gone makes for a better deal...usually.
That looks like Saddle paint and maybe a repaint. On the door it looks repainted and maybe gold underneath. Here's a gold '68 I built years ago for inspiration. It wasn't gold originally. Your truck is very similar

Re: 68 c10 Gold and White Short bed
Hmmm. Is the glove box decal still intact??? A picture of it would tell all.
That tail gate looks to be gold??? 50th anniversary pickups had gold dash pads and visors, had white door panels and the top of the cab and lower body were white. Tim's picture is exact on a 68 Golden... |

Re: 68 c10 Gold and White Short bed
Nice looking truck . I had my 68 at the fall revival this year I also have an original paint well what’s left of it 50th . The gold on the 50th is different than the non 50th truck gold .

Re: 68 c10 Gold and White Short bed
Felix Chevrolet was a key Chevy dealer in Downtown Los Angeles. [Might still be there, IDK]. When I found the build sheet on my '68 C/10 Stepside, I saw their name prominently.
If that Gold/White '68 Fleetside is a Fremont build, there's a very good chance it was once sold thru Felix. On the other hand, the '' Felix Holding a sizzling Cannonball '' image was the WWII squadron mascot of a US Navy Fighter, Attack or Dive Bombing squadron. [Not sure of the unit number, but I've seen it on vintage photos.] In that case, the truck may have belonged to a Naval Aviator or aircraft maintainer. Or just a big Felix The Cat fan, who knows?
