Carrier bearing insulator ?
Has anyone ever put a thin piece of rubber between the carrier bearing where it mounts to the frame ? Cant see where this would hurt anything and may cut down vibration etc. Your thoughts ?

I think that re-balancing the driveshaft would be a better option, if there is vibration from it. It already has a neoprene doughnut between the bearing and the pedestal mount.

If the drive shaft components are in good shape and the U-joint angles in specification there should be no noticeable vibration.
You may end up causing problems down the road if the rubber allows the carrier to move around under high load conditions. In today's vehicles with NVH being a priority I've not seen any OE rubber mount the carrier bearing. The rubber bushing in the carrier bearing is supposed to absorb normal vibration.

For those of you that use a center carrier with a 2 piece small block driveshaft, showcars.com has one with a polyurethane bushing. It is their part #6668.it fits cars 58-64 and trucks with a 2 piece driveshaft, except some big blocks. I had a problem with vibration on hard acceleration on a 63 Impala with a 327. The #6668 fixed it.
