closed knuckle D44 front axle
I'm needing to replace the end seals on my front axle. I'm looking for info on this axle. I would like to come across an exploded diagram, or anything else that would help me out, rebuild instructions, etc. Below I've got pictures of the axle end seals I have bought. Does anyone know if these are the correct seals. If not, do you have a P/N that I can use to get the correct seals?

That looks like the seal for the open-knuckle axle. Mounts near the center section and the gears have to be removed to get to it. Is yours leaking at the big ball?

I found out the hard way (after trying to force the seal into the end of the axel) that the seals are inboard. My '69 has an open knuckel disk setup on it and the seals looked just like that. I don't know if they are different for the open knuckel and closed knuckel.

JIMs70GMC - I'm leaking out the ends of the axles, and out of the big ball on both ends. The ends of the axles are only bad if I've been in deep water, until I change out the fluid. The other place I know I'm leaking out of is on the passenger side either out of the ball, or the cap with (4) screws on the bottom of the ball. Here's a picture of what it looks like right now.

Get yourself a copy of Moses Ludel's Chevy/GMC light truck owner's bible. In this book(Chapter 10) he details replacing those seals, w/ pictures!
