www.inliners.org has a lot of good info. The T5 from an S10 is very popular. I even put one behind my 350. Use the stock clutch linkage and a clutch plate from an 85-89 Astro van.

I just found this site and I am exstatic. I have a 49 in the works and was wondering about the same situation. I have already purchased a 4.3 and a 5 spd. The gear ratios in the tranny should make it quite fun, but what about the slave cylinder? Can an aftermarket scatter shied be machined down to accept different bearings to eliminate it?

we are planning on doing the same thing to my 58 GMC. We have a nice 283 to drop inot it and then we will hook up a 5 speed to it. Don't the 5 speeds all have hydraulic clutches??
