Want to bump engine over but electrical problem
I would like to bump the engine over in the K5 as I have had some penetrant in the cylinders for a couple days. When I hooked up a battery I had headlights but when I went to turn the ignition I lost all juice.
Can I just go to the starter positive lead to a battery direct and a lead from the - battery post to a ground and turn the engine over? The spark plugs are all out right now.

Just short the battery lead at the starter with a screwdriver to the yellow wire on the solenoid. The engine will turn over as long as you hold the two shorted. Jeff.

Got the engine to turn over with the starter last night - turned out the negative cable wasn't getting a good connection. Seemed to turn over just fine - a relief to know the engine wasn't locked up after sitting for about 6-7 years.
