I had the same 70s blazer tank, it would have hung a lot lower than I wanted.

the filler takes up the space between floor and frame, then over half the height of the tank hangs below the frame.

I've been wondering about that part. It will probably end up in the 71 as the 40 gallon is pretty wide and won't fit between the rails. I've got two projects ahead of the 71 getting it's turn now that my shoulder is about 75% functional.

I've got a 74 F150 tank that came with a nine inch I bought that may be the tank of choice. For me gauge senders aren't an issue as I am not using GM gauges. Gauges of choice are secret squirrel stuff right now.
