Seats
I purchased a set of bucket seats out of a 96 full size pick-up. Does anyone have any helpful hints on how to make these work? The brackets are very tall and level.

Cut the brackets in half and cut off however much you want to make them sit lower and weld the back together.

I'm about to tackle the same project. Mine are 60/40 seats out of about a 98'. I found a guy on the Fullsize forum who has done this swap. He cut about 3 inches off the brackets and welded some metal on them to replace the mounting feet that were cut off. He drilled holes in the floor and reinforced the floor around the mounting points. I searched for after market brackets and couldn't find anything.

have you tried swapping the brackets from your old seat(s) to the later model ones?

I thought about cutting them but they really need lowered a bunch then I don't know if the motor for the power seats would fit under there. I also thought about getting blazer or suburban brackets but I seen them sell on ebay for over $200. I guess I am going to try to cut them. I was hoping that there was a thread on here from when this had been discussed before. Does anyone know of one?

I have tried to do this with out much luck. I had a set of 2002 truck seats that wouldnt fit and I had a set of 2000 car seats that wouldnt fit. Because of the geometry of the floor it makes it very diffucult to use other than stock seats. I really didnt want to pay 800$ for a new seatand I didnt want to sacrifice the strength of the seat brakets by welding them. I am going to have my bench seat redone in leather to save frustration and money.
