Tail lights won't go off.

I am not very elictrically inclined so I thought i'd ask here first. The tails and rear side markers are staying on. I swapped out the headlight switch because I had an extra but that did not help. I am assuming it is a ground or something but I have no idea where to start. Any suggestions?

Also, anyone know which fuse to pull so I can leave my battery hooked up? A pic would be nice.

Odd that it is just the tail lights and markers and not the front markers too. This shouldn't be a ground issue...pretty much not possible. (if there was a ground problem, they wouldn't work..and since electricity takes the path of least resistance and nothing is supposed to be on in that portion of the electrical system, that is not the path it would take)
I can help you on the fuse though...but honestly, I think unplugging the battery would be quicker/easier.

Good pic of the fuse block, what did you use to overlay the print...?

Unplug your steering column wires at the horseshoe and see if they go out, my guess is a turn signal switch problem but it's a guess.

Blue, I didn't do it, I pirated it from another member and have been pimpin it...I can picture his face,(and his girl friend's too) but I can't remember his screen name.
Mothertruckers...I was kinda thinking that, but is still doesn't make much sence since the side markers are on and that confirms that it is the parking lights and not the brakes...still a good quick troubleshooting step.

I will try that Ed. BTW I forgot to mention, the dash lights are on as well. I don't know if that means anything.

I'm assuming you still have the original wiring in the truck. If so, it sounds like there are two wires that have rubbed together and are crossing circuits. Pita to troubleshoot, and makes a heck of a good case for a new harness.

What's getting me is that the front markers aren't lit, but the dash and tails are. Do the front markers work with the headlights on? I don't have any diagrams at work, but you need to look and see where the circuit for the wires run and what color they are. Then you get to start tracing at the headlight switch.
