The 69-70 original grilles (which that one definitely is) were coated with a clear anodized coat which will need to be removed if it hasn't been already. The recommended method of removal is easy-off oven cleaner in the yellow can (from what I've read).
Here's a thread that details the process. Seems like it's not for the impatient. Also the images are gone thanks to Photobucket. |
