Door glass seals
Hey everybody,
I tried to do some searching on this and found some old posts, so I wondered about reviving this discussion. I bought some custom window seal kits for my 72 C20 from LMC. https://www.lmctruck.com/door-compon...and-components These don't seem to fit at all. I called LMC and they told me the pieces were 27" long, which wouldn't fit without being trimmed. Even when trimmed they don't fit properly along side the triangle vent window. Has anyone got any suggestions and advice on another brand or a way to make these fit and look good. I've got some photos below of my attempts. Thanks!

This is what I always used but it looks like they are discontinued. Maybe Classic industries just don't handle them any more. https://www.classicindustries.com/product/cr1073.html They were made in the USA by Clark Industries they were the nicest ones I could find at the time..... I know that Repops made the weatherstrips for Precision at one time but Now I'm not sure. By their web site it looks like they still make the window kits. https://www.repops.com/product-searc...yr=44&ne=0&kw= I would check with GMCPauls and see what they say. https://gmcpauls.com/ .

Re: Door glass seals
The ones from GMCPauls requires trimming. I am a week or so away from installing them.
Sorry, I don't recall if they were in a labeled wrapper or not and can't recall brand. |

Re: Door glass seals
I bought LMC first and they are crap. Bought Steele rubber. Also crap. Bought precision and they are a great fit. No trimming. Just make sure the slots inside the door are flat and not bulged out. If not flat it won't fit properly. Also as someone on the forum stated on the 72 there is a screw on the door under the wing window. You need to slightly loosen the screw to slide in the outer piece. No matter what you do they are still a real booger to install. You'll be shaking by the time you're through. The screw I mentioned is in your first photo. It's in the indentation on the door below the wing.

Re: Door glass seals
I've got a set on order. Should be here tomorrow seeing as they are 3 hours away from me over in Wisconsin. Perhaps I'll get them in this weekend. I'll post pictures as I go and keep ya updated. Thanks again the for advice. Appreciate it.

Re: Door glass seals
I recommend reading my experience with it and the guidance I received from the folks here on the forum. And the pictures. The felts fit on the inside of the glass channel, and you need to shave and smash them in order to fit. Smash it in a vise. The squeegee may need to be trimmed just a little. https://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/...d.php?t=738367

Re: Door glass seals
Watch the install video on precision. Remember to have the slots in the door flat or it will end up with a gap between molding and door. These are pretty much a one shot deal. You'll probably booger them trying to remove. My slots were easy to flatten with a broad tip screwdriver. Just protect the window. I also had the door panels off and removed the window stop inside the door. You can then lower the window a little more and give yourself a little more wiggle room. Anyway it's still no fun. You can do it. Also, use tape on your door paint.

Re: Door glass seals
Update - - Got the window seals from Precision out of WI and they feel like they are waaaay better quality than LMC, so thank you Howzzzit for a heads up on that one. I'll try and get them installed tonight and we'll see how it goes.
Man, I love this forum board. This place is so much better than any YouTube channel for info. We need to arrange a get together with all of our community assisted repaired trucks.

Re: Door glass seals
I got the door glass seals in last night and they are a lot better than LMC's seals. These were super easy to install and are high quality. I paid $84.00 for these before shipping and have learned as I've gotten older, you get what you pay for. I loosened the screw in the window vent and that helped to get the seal seated. The video on Precision's website was really helpful as well.
Here's their website again if anyone needs it. https://www.prp.com/ I will definitely be buying more parts from them. Below are the installed photos. A little wavy, but definitely better than what I had. Thanks to everyone for the input.

Re: Door glass seals
Those look spectacular.
The ones with the bright stainless bead were not ever factory installed on trucks, right? My '72 Cheyenne Super, and '70 Blazer CST just had the normal black.

Re: Door glass seals
Unsure about them originally from the factory.
Very pleased that this stainless option was available from Precision. My Windshield, Rear window and Door to Cab seals are also from them. Other reproduction part manufacturers could learn a lesson from Precision about aftermarket restoration parts for quality and fitment.

Did did my truck a few weeks ago and used Precision products. Very happy with the results and not that hard to install.
