Been there did the same exact thing. You have the bellcrank positioned wrong. The guy who got that all together right the first time without having to step back and figure it out leads a charmed life.

The rod is on right it is the Bellcrank that is in the wrong position.

I think it was on the 56 235 that I put in my friend's 53 that I beat my head against the wall on on that.

You have to take the bell crank off and turn it around so that the straight arm is up and the bent arm is facing down as the diagram that 57 tailgater posted shows.
