Re: Friends truck

Your Buddy has a real nice ride there Leon with cruise control to boot!

This brings up a question since I don't see it listed on the SPID and me not knowing.

Was cruise control added at the dealer? I have only seen one truck personally with cruise control, and the owner said he got it off a car (same era) in the wrecking yard but it was the same basic unit.

I don’t know the answer but the other Day I was at the parts house getting a brake light switch for my 1970 and was asked if it had cruise.
Probably just an across the board question , just caught me off guard

Re: Friends truck

Regarding cruise control. I had a 71 Super with cruise and it wasnt listed on the spid but it was defiantly a factory cruise, it had the dash switch etc. I started a thread about it ages ago and here is the answer about listed on spid vs not listed. So mine was dealer installed.

JQ-72

In 68-70, "Speed & Cruise Control" was listed on the SPID as RPO K30. In 71-72, cruise control was only available through the dealership and was not listed on the SPID.

Looks good.
Judging by the rearview mirror cover and the perforated headliner i would say an early 69 model. It is also missing the cargo light which was also an early 69 CST thing.

The vin is one of those crazy GMC ones... that's how I know it's an early model.

Re: Friends truck

The White Grille is not stock [after MY 1967]. But it looks cool.

I was thinking of doing something like that myself, after a wheelchock came out and I'd forgotten to set the parking brake or leave it in gear, and the Jimmy rolled forward 25 feet and smacked my 8 foot fleetside trailer at a 45* angle.

Does anyone have a GMC VIN decoder?

69?

I noticed that painted grill first, I have been wanting to do that with my own GMC but didn't know how it would look. I like it!

Re: Friends truck

What a cool truck.
I’m a fan of the black and white two tone with the red and black interior.
Sharp!

Thanks!

He is going to pull his small Airstream trailer with it, so it is a working truck for sure.

Re: Friends truck

Agree its a nice truck and I love the color combo. If I bought thT truck that grill would be chromed immediately just like I did with the white front front bumper on my 72.
