Sun Shield?

Been looking around for a sun shield to maybe keep the interior a bit cooler (and block UV rays) when parked out in the sun. The ones I have found are too tall -- modern vehicles with their laid-back windshields need more height than our older, more upright windshields. Anyone have a source for something that fits? Or should I just get one that's too tall and cut it to fit? Thanks, guys.

The ones I have are from Wal-Mart Custon Asseccories and they are right at 24 inches just to give you a idea

Re: Sun Shield?

.

I like the light fabric ones lined with a bendy strip of metal. They come out of the package as a circle of fabric and expand to square windscreen sized sun blockers. One side is black for winter to absorb heat where the other side reflects heat.

They're easy on/off, lightweight and easy to store in cab. Just buy a set for a small car and they'll wedge in there just fine!

I think they're called "twist sunshades" and are sold in the auto section of big box stores and various other auto related retailers.

Another vote for the twist to fold version. Have one set in my 75 and a larger(as noted) in my 09 Escape.

Re: Sun Shield?

Buy one from heatshield, they are custom made to fit, right. I have one for all my cars and trucks, so does my dad & brother, they've always fit and look great. I know others who have gotten their full kits to block all the windows in storage situations too, all have been pleased with their products.

Measure the height of the windshield, and check out the compact car ones in the store & measure until you find one close enough. Had to do that with my box grand marquis, what was supposed to fit that was listed in that hanging book on the shelf was for some modern huge windsheild. Can't remember what I ended up with save for compact car.

Re: Sun Shield?

I appreciate all the replies. First thing I did was measure, and I have been to both parts stores in town. The smallest twist-to-fold I found locally seems too tall -- I'll test-fit it though, just in case. WalMart is an hour from me but I have searched their website. https://www.heatshieldstore.com/ is more expen$ive but I'll check 'em out -- odd that they show different items for a 1971 vs a 1972. Maybe the difference is due to mirror mount, windshield vs roof.
