Not that it really matters, but mirror issue might (?) even be a plant to plant issue in 69. My 1st day of production 69 Fremont truck has what I would expect to see.

When I bought my 1969 new, I asked the salesman where the inside mirror was. He responded that on the '69s an inside mirror was an option until later in the '69 model year. This is verified based on the 1969 Chevy truck "info kit" (https://www.gm.com/heritage/archive/...formation-kits) which contains info regarding included and optional equipment. The option code was D36.

Also, there were no pre-drilled holes for a mirror. I believe the mounting bracket shown above was actually for a '67.

That's interesting to know and looking at a 68 kit it shows the same thing. That would then explain why my truck has the later style mirror and no real evidence of a previous mirror and the hole look like being added after the fact. Odd though that you would thing a Custom with comfort and convivence would have it grouped in with the other stuff added to the interior.

Sure is a weird thing to think about today that even a standard inside review mirror was optional.

Are you sure that is factory installed? That looks like a 64-66 mirror to me.

I can only be "sure" the 69 in photoed currently has it. A post above says 69 didn't have rearview mirror as standard equipment so it must not be "correct" as my SPID and build sheet do not show added rearview mirror.

I have (2) 1969's built on the same day 8-26-68 and both have that same mirror installed which is a real coincodence. I have not owned either since new so I will have to say they were both added after they left factory by who knows who.

Sorry to LockDoc for polluting your thread. Awesome truck, congrats again.

Thanks Paul. I haven't heard from him yet but I'm not in a big hurry since I'm working on the 71 4x4.

Re: Bought My Uncles '69 Chevy 1/2 Ton Today

Well 4 months later we finally have the title straightened out on the Uncles '69. I picked it up this morning. I got it started and backed it out of the garage. I had to remove the distributor cap and file the corrosion off of the points to get it to fire up. I also siphoned the old gas out and put in some fresh stuff. It runs really good for sitting for so long. After letting it idle for a while after I backed it out of the garage it would die when I put it in gear to drive it up on the trailer. I went ahead and pulled it up on the trailer with the winch. I'm betting the fuel filter is plugged up. The two flat tires held air after being pumped up but they will all need to be replaced. I took it in to the car wash before I unloaded it because it makes it really easy to wash underneath when it is on the trailer.

First picture is after I backed it out of the garage, second is after I got it home and before I took it to the car wash, the other three pictures are after spending $15 on it at the car wash....

Now I will CLR it and go over it by hand with Turtle Wax White Polishing Compound after that.

Thanks Keith. I had another maroon '69 years ago but it was so rusty I couldn't save it. Looking forward to doing a little detailing on this one.
