some minor scale rust
Just bought a trailer and brought it home. Last time I buy site unseen. Just needs minor scale chipping and painting Easy fix. Glad I pulled the deck off to make it easier to get to with the chipping hammer.
On the way home I Could not figure out why only 2 and half wheels touched the road at any given time. Figured that out as well. That is a 10" x 12# beam that has rusted so bad in the web it crushed it All joking aside, I knew how bad it was, and for what I gave for it I still made out ok. I basically gave them the value of the 2 Dexter torsion axles. .

Re: some minor scale rust
I am ordering 2 new 20ft min beams. Gotta cut the axles away from the old ones, will be cutting the beams directly behind the front cross channel where the tongue welds up. It is a factory splice there anyway. Time to break out the 7018 rod. The top structure above the main rails will not be used either (I am hoping). My intent is to mount this 22' truck body on top of the main rails. I used to have this body mounted on my gooseneck before I sold that trailer. All in I should have less than $3k in material, the rest is my labor. With the price of enclosed trailers nowadays and as cheaply made as they seem to be, I think I will be well ahead of the game. I want to set this trailer up for swap meets so I don't have to worry about the weather.
If you look close at the 2nd picture, the reflective tape bows down at the back 4" with the trailer level on the concrete floor. .
