Frozen pizza

My wife showed me this Costco ad. Normally 89 bucks for three pack of ten inch deep dish frozen pizzas. Even at 69 on sale I wouldn’t buy them. Have you had them and are they worth it?

Re: Frozen pizza

I like pizza but I don’t eat it very often. I don’t think I’d buy that much even though it’s cheap enough. I don’t have the space and couldn’t eat that many pizzas before the expiration date ran out.

Re: Frozen pizza

My math says that's $23 for a 10" pizza... from the freezer. I can get a better pizza delivered for less than that.

Re: Frozen pizza

From Chicago? My wife looked up the brand and it says they ship 3 never frozen 10" deep pan pizzas on dry ice. I don't care what they are I'd never pay $30 for a 10" pizza any style.

No darn way they are worth that! You know how many El Monterey frozen burritos and chimichangas you could get for 69 bucks? Why, I could eat for a month on that!

Agreed. It might be good but I can't imagine it's $23 (on sale!) good. Seems awfully expensive, kinda gives the name 'Costco' a whole new meaning.

They're on sale for a reason. I have a theory.

Re: Frozen pizza

Giordano’s is one of the storied Chicago pizzerias and I’ve eaten there several times and ordered frozen pies directly from them on one occasion. They are very good. Zachary’s pizza in the Bay Area is better (or was) IMO.

Re: Frozen pizza

I've never had the frozen pizzas but I eat at Giordano’s Everytime I'm near one. A 10" Chicago style pizza is way different than a 10" pizza from anywhere else. The first time I got one to go it was like being handed a paving stone.

Re: Frozen pizza

I like the Safeway Select frozen pepperoni and the 3 sausage ones in ultra thin.
On sale usually around 4.50, used to be 2.99 on sale.
Taste great, eat one by myself and it reminds me of a mom and pop pizzeria long ago in Richardson TX.

Re: Frozen pizza

I’d have to try one to decide if it’s worth it but I’m way too cheap to pay that much just to try it and not like it.

Re: Frozen pizza

Well it looks like I should have had my reading glasses on.
I thought the ad said 3 pack of 10 pizzas. I didn’t see the “ and I was getting ready to leave the house. My attention to detail was compromised.
It also doesn’t help that I use my phone for the everything.
I can’t think of anymore excuses.
I definitely have enough space in the frig for 3 pizzas.

I am a fan of real Chicago pizza. Unfortunately I can not get one where I live.

So I had my ex wife pick these up for me, and they are a quite nice.

That's too high for me also (Even if I liked Thick Crush).

I used to get my (Frozen ) pizza from a Package store up the road that deals with Hunt's pizza.
It is only as good as the Person making it.
The guy left that done a Great Job and the next person was just average.

Now we go to a Local Pizza place named Ziggy's.

They hand make their own dough.

Re: Frozen pizza

A while back I read on the net about the top rated frozen pizzas and of course their top pic I thought I'd give a try. I don't remember what brand it was but I tossed it in the can. Clearly that writer has no taste whatsoever!

Re: Frozen pizza

I stand corrected on my BS comment. I can't believe what a pizza costs, these days. Crazy. I'm out of the loop I guess, because I can't even eat pizza- no tomatoes or onions allowed.

Re: Frozen pizza

As Costco pizza goes. We just buy 2-3 pizzas from the food court and eat that evening. The rest is put in containers, frozen and reheated. When thawed and reheated (in the air fryer or a pan) it is better than the packaged frozen varieties. Very affordable IMO. $10 for a good size pizza.

It is not supposed to be a thick crust, but rather have 4X the toppings a normal pizza has. Minimum.
