If the tab is correct then the outer ring on the balancer has moved in relation to the keyway in the snout of the balancer. Generally you check this before installing the balancer completely, just incase you have to remove it. Or you can compare your balancer to a known good balancer before installing to verify the outer ring hasn't moved.
