47 GMC interior paint colors and repainting interior

There is probably a thread on here about colors. I am trying to find out the color of the interior of my 47 GMC truck. Some things I have read say they thought the only color was a Champaign kind of color but I confirmed the outside is pimpernel Scarlett and I would think that might not look real great. I am also trying to find out was the dash and all of the interior the same color? Was dash maybe a black? Where did they break the paint on the door opening? Where did the exterior stop and the interior color start? If anyone has a source to show what colors were used and what parts were painted those for my truck I would really appreciate it

I think there are more Chevy original survivors than GMCs that I've seen over the years. I can't be 100%, but I thought Chevys were the Champaign color and GMCs were more grey interior. The black you may see was a dark maroon black primer back then.
And the transition varies, being these were just trucks. Out of the 3 cabs I went thru too get a decent one, they all varied. I picked the outer skin seam as the transition, but it's a slow taping process. Probably way too precise compared to the factory.

Where you broke the color is where I was going to do it. But on the interior color I am still perplexed. The doors and kick panels and floor seem to be that campaign color. Yet when I took the windshield moulding and headliner down and moved the seat forward it is black. The roof on the inside has surface rust but the cross braces are black.. the seat frame is black too. Does this sound right?

It looks like the "red brown" might be the marronish color along with light brown more brown and silver

To me, if you like it and if it goes with what the reference materials say is correct for that year life is good as there is no way to say that it is wrong.

The interior paint up to the seam where the outside sheet metal is is correct from what I have seen on every original paint cab I have seen. The

Thank you so much. So today I took off the qtr windows and took what was probably the original gaskets off the opening. Confirmed correct outside color but to my surprise the inside original color was under the gasket and it was that kind of Champaign color. If I cam figure how to get a pic on here I will.

I guess that is one reason I could never be a restorer. I just paint it what ever color I like and want and done rather than being caught up in "original

I'm taking it that "Champaign" = some sort of silver.

Re: 47 GMC interior paint colors and repainting interior

Normally I wouldn't be caught up on it that much. However this is first year and not ever chopped up and was fairly rust free to begin with. Cab corners not replaced. Relatively little rust I did have to do a few patch panels for fender and pillars. But I figured there are all kinds of restomods out there and a bunch that have had only a little changed but this one was never hacked up and felt I kind of owed it to bring it back as original as I can. I do have a few safety things like changed to negative ground and 12 volt and front disc so it will stop. But all of that can be changed back with little effort.Dont get me wrong. I love restomods. Lots of work to be appreciated in them. But this one just seems a bit special.

And the Champaign color is kind of a goldish brown.
