Leaky trans dip stick tube fix...
For my fresh TH350 trans I had to purchase one of the aftermarket chrome dip stick tubes and it has been nothing but a hassle. I constantly have a leak of sorts from the base where it goes into the trans. I have checked and replaced the rubber o-ring, adjusted the mounting bracket to insure it was straight into the hole, but still it leaks. Is there some fix out there? Should I just try and locate a factory tube?
thanks! |

I had the same problem with my T400. My factory tube was slightly bent and didn't fit perfectly, it was at a bit of an angle. Dealership had them in stock 15 bucks with o-ring. You have to get someone that will look in the books.

It is a horrible pain! My dipstick was too big to fit in the hole w/ an o-ring on it. It took some serious creativity.
If you have an o-ring & still leaks, then you need a rubber skirt. They are in the Help! section at most auto parts stores. Even if the salespersons say they do not have them, look anyways.

went throught this mess for month's. ended up getting some COPPER plus sealant and cleaned the area and "gooped" it all over it! let it sit over a weekend to dry and it was sealed. not the prettiest seal in the market but it worked.

When I put the dipstick tube back in mine I used a new o ring and coated it with black silicone, hadn't leaked yet.
