QS 13 to QS 5 Fram 13 to Fram 5????

So I go to the local parts guy to get a oil filter!
He says they have changed the #'s
QS 13 which I always used has changed to QS 5
And Fram also has changed he says!

Anybody know more about this?
Or is this guy on glue?

Why in the hell are you useing those crappy filters for anyway? Go to NAPA and get a decent quality filter for only a little more money.

I always use the NAPA brand, even on my Toyota's. They have cut outs of many different brands of filters at my local NAPA, and you can really tell the difference in quality compared to the other brands. The worst filter was the FRAM. The NAPA filters were almost matches to the factory ones.

Fram has roughly 1/2 the filtering media as the Wix made NAPA brand filter. I think it's a 1060 for a small block in Napa numbers.

AC changed to filters with anti-drainback valves & they use different part numbers from the old ones. Maybe the other manufacturers did the same.

I know the PH13 used to be the fram I used to use before I knew better and thought John Force would only push good products. I think it wentr to a ph-5 or something like that...
either way, it is still junk. I won't even put one of those on my stinkin lickoln...and I don't exactly take care of that POS.

I used the FRAM PF-13 for years. I picked that one because it was always the best fit on my faceted cap-style oil filter wrench.

I could also get them very cheap ($3.50) at places like K-Mart. Well K-Mart still sells FRAM, but they no longer stock that number.

So Pep Boys still sells the FRAM PF-13. However, they charge $5.50 for it.
Since everyone is so down on FRAM, I think I will switch over to NAPA.

Just make sure you get the NAPA gold, not silver. Different manufacturers. NAPA gold=very good. NAPA silver=very bad.
