I have no second generation experience but on my first generation Blazers it's been necessary to replace them in the 175k to 220k range. I've never had to do one a second time.
Are you replacing the pins with the factory plastic bushings or the aftermarket bronze bushings? Putting a drop of oil on each bushing every oil change helps keep them from wearing.
