Re: My 1967 Build (Finally)
He even let me shoot some of it, but when it came to the final coats I let him do it, a failure at this point due to inexperience would have been just horrible. The pics dont do it justice; you have to see it in person.
We decided on a tri-coat. Adding some gold flake was just up my alley for that retro feel, but also a direct show of intent - Im not painting the rest, when you see the roof, you kind of understand that.

Re: My 1967 Build (Finally)
And then on the way to Tennessee! Landed at the hotel around 1:30-2:00 AM, unloaded and immediately began polishing the paint division trim. Called it a night around 3, and ended up at Waffle House around 6:30AM. Dont ever say Im not a hotrodder! that may very well be the only time Ive been to Waffle House when the sun was up.

Re: My 1967 Build (Finally)
A few more pics of the roof in the sun. Then headed home on Sunday, got home around 1AM on Monday and boy was I beat. What a great weekend though, not often you can say you were in the presence of giants, but rarely can you say you had your vehicle on the same grounds or show as them. What an experience. I am signing up for next year now!

Re: My 1967 Build (Finally)
Appreciate it! Its been a ton of fun enjoying the truck. Even the issues. Today the radiator got a small pinhole developed in it. I need to send it in to Cold Case to get warrantied. But its small enough I can drive around town till I get the new one here. Oh well!

Re: My 1967 Build (Finally)
Just got back from the C10 Fall Revival in Denton, NC. What a great show. Tons of trucks, tons of money raised for charity and lots of great people!
Ended up having the Cold Case radiator leak again, and seemingly had a plugged trans cooler which killed the trans as well. SO Jasper is sending me a new transmission and Cold Case is sending me a new radiator Heres some pics

Re: My 1967 Build (Finally)
It does, but thankful for warranties and good relationships with suppliers. All I have to pay for is coolant and ATF. Its now back together and is running! Ill be posting some updates as to my plans for the future of the truck.

Re: My 1967 Build (Finally)
The build marches on!
Transmission died on the way back from C10 Fall Revival, and Jasper was gracious enough to send me a new one, at my house! I have always wanted to bag the truck, which would mean moving the drivetrain up to lay frame, so I cut the tunnel out to fit a big hump. Sad to cut up my nice clean floor, but thats what we do!

Re: My 1967 Build (Finally)
While at the Revival, my friend Kyle Fannin (C10 Club MD) told me "be ready for Dino's" as we had talked about possibly making the trip out - well, little did I know, we were both very serious about making the trek. So the Sunday before Dino's, we hit the road in his 1986 C20, "Karen", which is set with a 454 and a 6L80E (yes, a 6L80E SIX speed!) and he picked me up from Virginia, we went to South Carolina to pick up Matt (C10 Club SC) and we had plans to meet with Josh from Yeah Buddy Garage and his buddy Derek, both from Florida. We eventually met up earlier than expected when his AC compressor seized from debated causes. 2 of 7 pistons seized inside it (seemingly oil free ). This was just outside Memphis, around 2 or 3 AM. So we waited outside an OReillys to find a shorter belt and bypass the system. Eventually hit the road and went straight to Amarillo, then to the Wig Wams off Rt66!

Re: My 1967 Build (Finally)
Eventually got to Dinos, and we were lucky enough to be in vendor spots (Optima and AMD) so we got in quick. And TIFFANY was there! That truck inspired my build, and continuation of my build.

Re: My 1967 Build (Finally)
Before we left AZ after Dino's, I was made the 'Head of State' for C10 Club Virginia, and was fortunate enough to be invited to their 25th Anniversary after party. It was great meeting all the guys, and getting to talk to Oro personally and get to know everyone that much more.

Re: My 1967 Build (Finally)
Got to meet some awesome people, at the show and beyond.
Left Dinos and went straight to California (for the Quarantine Cruise put on by Ken) and MAN! People were interested in us. So many people were enamored that we went from MD, VA and SC + FL to California and were gonna drive back! In an 86 C20! John Oro got us hooked up with Willie from Creep Works who had some amazing stuff going on, and then we met up with Zach (Mister Zachary on IG) and got to go on a ride in his bad ahhhh Blazer. Once headed home, we stopped on Oatman and met an awesome store owner who was just mystified on our journey and dedication to make the drive home with no stops other than fuel.

Re: My 1967 Build (Finally)
I saw some awesome stuff while we were out there, heres a pic of Willie's slammed Blazer, and then Zach's lifted Blazer!
We also went to go see Jay Leno in Hermosa Beach with the Loshs'! Great show, and even got to interact with the comedy acts some. They thought we were joking on them when we said where we were from. Also, the fact we were all wearing Slosh Tubz hoodies or shirts probably made them a bit confused

Re: My 1967 Build (Finally)
Last post. All in all, what a great trip.
6000 miles almost exactly, $1500+ in fuel, 1.5 weeks from home. We met so many great people, became such better friends with others, ate such horrible food and stayed in such questionable places. Cant wait for next year!
