3.07 gear set.

I have a good used set of 3.07 gears. Removed from my 12 bolt so I could install 3.73's.

$50 plus shipping from 97217.

Still for sale. Gears are not rusting, the setting sun added a reddish tint to photos.

Re: 3.07 gear set.

Not to hijack your thread, but how do you like the change in the gearing. I am looking into possibly doing the same gear change. Did you see a large drop in mileage? Hope about off the line pep.

Good Luck with the sale.

Re: 3.07 gear set.

I really like the 3.73's. Much better off the line. I didn't check the mileage when I had the 3.07 gears but I gotten high as 14.4 mpg with the 3.73's without the OD and in the 15 mpg with the OD. I don't remember there being much difference in mpg when I swapped gears.

Re: 3.07 gear set.

As far as I know they are original GM gears.

I got the axle out of a running and driving truck with 80 or 90k miles (I'm not 100% sure of the mileage) that had been recently wrecked. I got the axle out of in 2021 when my Burban had been hit in a wreck and it's axle housing was bent. I had my rebuilt axle internal parts removed from the bent housing and installed in the new housing. This gear set was from that.

Re: 3.07 gear set.

Ok. Unless there are other numbers on the gears, they are not GM. Original gears will have GM part numbers. I don’t recognize that logo.

Re: 3.07 gear set.

You sound like your more knowledgeable about it than I am. Here is a link to when I got the axle the gears came out of. Scroll to post 790. Rereading now it does appear, by the stamped axle code, that the gear set had been replaced at some time in the past . Maybe it was back in the 70's? I don't know.
