Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

IN April, 2000 we moved from city water, to a rural home with it's own well. We lost power 3 times in the first 4 months and the last time was for 4 days. No water to flush toilets or shower in late July.. Fortunately, the wife and 4 year old were in Madison, WI visiting her family, so I was the only stinky one home. The third day of that outage, I bought a generator and cord and back fed it thru the dryer outlet, which was on an outside wall next to a window...
I still have it and have used it numerous times over the years, but not as much since we moved 5 years ago. The local supplier seems better at keeping the lights and well pump on where we are now.

Heading to Rosemont tonight for the MCACN show. Anyone going there ?

Tested the ol' lawnmower generator and it's fine.
I have a spare Chevy alternator charging two spare car batteries in here with a pure sine wave inverter to keep the ice cream frozen and the wifi on so I'm all set.

What more could you want....

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Our whole generator kicks automatically every Tuesday and runs for 15 minutes. Then shuts down. Used it twice last summer.
Today I spent and hour with a PT working on my right shoulder. Nice gal but I can really feel it now.

.

Today I received a cosmetic trim part for my laptop as it's gettin' long in the tooth. I ordered this 3 days ago. Yesterday my coffee went into the keyboard of said laptop and it died. It's just not funny anymore

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Got dropped spindles put on the 61 to get the nose down and tested fitted some steel wheels we had for the front. Found we had a pair of 14x6 disc brake steel wheels. They clear so gonna get some 14x7s ordered for the rear and a set of hubcaps to recreate the look of the photos of my grandfathers original 61.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Flattening a rough sawn white oak slab that I milled a few years ago with my chainsaw mill. I usually bring them to a friend but his big drum sander is broken . Had to do it old school . This is going in where I took out the old range top.

My next project is to make a sled planer for my router .

That's a mighty fine surface, for using a belt sander!

I used an electric hand planer . Much faster than a belt sander.

Even more respect! I've done woodworking for decades and I wouldn't attempt that. I'd have gouges all over- assuming you did it free-hand. I do have a router sled I made from a 2' X 4' MDF sheet and 2" X 2" X 1/4" angle aluminum. It obviously wouldn't work for a large slab like yours.

All free hand . It’s not that hard after you ruin a few pieces of wood . In reality I did a lot of practice pieces of scrap wood before attempting this but now it’s really not that hard at all to do . Just have to take small bites out of the wood .

We having fun yet .

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Woke up to no water today . Cistern level was below the pump so I turned it off . The water from the spring house was running well and filled the cistern in a few minutes had my wife turn the pump on and the level dropped real fast . Pressure never built up in the house so I deduced that the line to the house must have sprung a leak since there’s no leak in the house .

My day today digging out the main line . Glad it’s not 10 degrees out have about 100 ft to go haven’t found a muddy spot yet . Going to just lay a new pipe next to the old one may change out the electrical too .

Today our granddaughter and grandson (19 and 12) came over. We decorated Christmas cookies, made 2024 ornaments, and decorated our tree. We dont get to see them at Christmas do to scheduling issues on their end. We set the channel to Classic Christmas for the background music and enjoyed the day.

They are (Suppose to call her at certain days)
I have told her , Good Luck with that.

Your post Reminded me of.

My wife makes a call to Both (Knuckle Heads)Before the Christmas Movies come on.

You know the Rudolf red nose Reindeer stuff.

They both say ( Yeah I am going to watch it)

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Started laying down the pipe . And of course we have been in a drought for several months and the next three days it’s going to rain . But we need it desperately and I can live without running for a few more days . Glad I had a roll of pipe in the barn for years but no 12/2 direct burial wire man was a little set back at the price $ 178 for 250 feet . The old wire is still good as I can power the pump up . I’ll pull it out and use it somewhere in the future
