Work light
Thinking about an underhood light, but debating whether I'd be just as well off with a stand light, which is more versatile.
This type: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MTXC016/ vs this type: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-22...0437/325210051 Enquiring minds want to know ;-)

Re: Work light
I would pick the stand type light.

Re: Work light
I have a few of these. A couple in the shop, and a couple in the work truck. They have a decent magnetic base. For a HF item, I've been decently impressed with them. They usually go on sale for $23ish a couple times a year.

Re: Work light
Get one of each. I also a 'trouble' type light an LED bulb: https://www.amazon.com/USW-TL825-Wor...844683&sr=8-44
The one I have is a cheap all plastic one but with the LED bulb, the plastic is fine. Don't use an incandescent bulb, the plastic melts. The plastic also has the bonus advantage of not shorting things if it touches something like a starter stud. If you only get one, you will be working in a place where your light won't work. |

Re: Work light
I have half a dozen of lights similar to these on the inside lid of my toolbox. I bought mine from Costco. They work so well I've given away my other work lights. The only problem I have with them is that they don't stick to aluminum hoods, but no magnetic light will.

Re: Work light
After struggling with work lights that were never in the right place or always fell off once it was, I started using the LED headlamp style.
The light is directed exactly where you're looking and there is no shadow.
