Seat belt buckle color
72 Highlander what color paint or dye should be used on the seat belt buckle? Attached a couple of pics one with flash one without. Looking to do some touch up. Most of the interior pieces are SEM super white, but the belt buckle almost looks like it might have a different color at least in the middle section around the gm button?? The area around it looks super white like the console it’s laying on for the pic.

Re: Seat belt buckle color
My 72 has parchment interior pieces. My door panels were a bit ratty looking so I prepped them and sprayed with the SEM super white. Not a match at all to any of the panels, it looks like white. I got a can of OER PP807 Parchment and the match is pretty good, I am satisfied with it. Purchased From Summit Racing. Note that the plastic/vinyl paint may appear a bit different depending on the surface it is applied to. My armrest pads look a slightly different shade than the door panels even though re colored at the same time.
You answered your own question. The buckles are parchment not white. If you want the closest match to what you have. The buckles should be SEM super white.

Re: Seat belt buckle color
The consoles (and seat back covers) were painted that GM 521 and not molded in color like the door panels or buckle covers so the colors won’t be a perfect match.

Re: Seat belt buckle color
I have used Super White, and it is more white. Since then I have found a good match for Parchment. It’s OER from Classic Industries.
It’s really going to come down to watch your trying to match, new stuff or the original parts. When I’m doing seatbelts for someone and it’s for a new interior, I would use Super White because the new fabrics and such are more white. For the people that are still using the original interior, use the Parchment from OER. I attached photos to try and show all the colors together, so you can see the different shades. The second photo is showing the Parchment Dye with the New Webbing and a piece of original webbing. Last photo, Super White was used for the dye. But the Parchment from OER in my opinion would be best, especially if your dyeing all your plastic parts. And that’s what I’ll be using from this point on since I found the OER Parchment. But I’ll say this again, if you’re using new interior seat covers and stuff, you almost need to use Super White then, if your trying to match the seat material that is used. All the new materials are more white than parchment. Hope this helps.

Re: Seat belt buckle color
I have that color too. I do think after everyone’s great input here, the closest match to what it is currently is Super White so I’ll go that route to touch up the one buckle that’s scuffed.

Re: Seat belt buckle color
Tried to remove the seat belt retractor cover for front passenger seat belt to repaint. Won’t come off no matter how I angle to buckle. Saw somewhere to unscrew the retractor mechanism and push that end through the opening. Still no luck and now the retractor is screwed up. I’ve probably screwed it up and will have to have it repaired, but as a last ditch effort, how do you/can you rewind it to function again? Has a slotted screw, a sleeve a spring a couple of keyed plastic pieces with holes for the end of the spring and a nut.

Re: Seat belt buckle color
You have to pry the outer clip off and then the center barrel is removable. The outer clip comes off a lot easier than going back on. Pay attention on which direction the internals were installed. It will then pull through the cover.
