I've always felt the '68 deluxe interior was the classiest of the 3 years. I like the '67 with the stripes, but the '68 looks more plush and refined. I'm the odd man out on the '69 hounds tooth, as I really don't like that pattern.

The 68 houdstooth is prettier than 69 as the "tooth" pattern is smaller than 69's. My uncle had a 68 with factory deluxe houndstooth and headrests. Quite the fancy interior. Yeah I am glad my 68 is a factory deluxe car, the capper on the interior was then having the N34 option (wood wheel). I do have a complete fold down rear seat I picked up years ago for my 68, but Ive yet to install it since 80% of my interior is still original and in great shape.

What are planning to use for a throttle pedal ? I bought a Lokar Midnight series pedal, to get away from the solid rod and have a more adjustable cable. The issue with that was, it placed all the force of pedal movement on that firewall location and it will flex and crack in a short time. The original pedal used the 2 floor pivots to absorb a lot more of that force than I realized. I had to make a plate to reinforce the mount area on the firewall.
At this point, you could use the mounting bolts to hold a painted reinforcement in place without welding, maybe even on the inside to hide it.

Thanks, that is a good idea. Since the build thread is so far behind the actual build, I can tell you I ended up just using the OE pivot (from the donor car) with a new adjustable length rod and peddle.

The left side has caught up to the right. I remembered thinking the arm rests look good without the ashtrays.

Here is the differences, the 68 patter is a little more "fuzzy" or blurry, its not as a hard edge pattern. Pics are from SMS fabrics website.

Thanks for posting, when you mentioned the difference I Googled it but only came up with the 69 patterns. Which seems to be more common when looking for Hounds Tooth covers/material.



Kilmat sound deadener going on the floor. I don’t know if I mentioned this before but I mainly use a thump test. If it sounds solid no need, if it doesn’t sound solid it gets some.

Here’s a Fuel Pump Controller kit from Aeromotive that I decided to try. It should prolong the life of our fuel pump by varying its speed using a tach signal.

Note: I ended up not being a fan of this controller, details to come later.

EXCELLENT plan ! Ash trays are no longer part of any vehicle interior anyway. I do like the clean appearance too. I'll be eliminating them, if I ever get to do interior...seems years away yet.

Ha, in hindsight I should’ve just gone with my initial idea. It does look better without them, plus with the rollbar I don’t think anyone will ever sit back there let alone light up.




Yep, I installed new ashtrays in the rear armrests right before putting them away. Prepped the roof for the final install of the weatherstripping channel. Just a few holes on the right side A-pillar got covered up from when Kelly (Perks) had installed the roof channel earlier (test fitting the side glass). A quick clearance with the die grinder, then a dab of paint, and it’ll be good to go.

I'm back on building out the dash. Scuffed and painted the outer heater box in preparation for building out the heater. I stole this idea from the trucks and got me some jute padding for behind the dash (?). I don’t think the Camaros had this, but the trucks did. I really like a solid-feeling car/truck, not a tinny, rough feel, so extra effort here and there makes that happen.

Getting closer, I don’t want to cover up any mounting locations or have it interfere with any of the dash components.

I’ve applied the jute padding to about 2/3rds of the cowl’s underside using 3M 90 adhesive. It’s just too tight to try and apply any directly above the peddle bracket assembly. I’ll take a smaller piece and apply it later above the fuse box and left of the peddle bracket.

I don’t care for these foam gaskets but, they will work with some trimming. The new wiper transmission fits well and I'm preparing for the wiper motor install.

The wiper motor is installed, but the supplied wiper motor Phillips head screws were junk (good tight fit but the screw heads are trying to strip out) I’ll replace them later with better hardware. I tested the motor earlier when I first received it but I wanted to test the motor and trans in the car. AOK, it looks like it’s going to work out fine, no issues other than the mounting hardware. Good instructions, but beware it wires up completely different (ground vs positive switching) than the factory WW motor and switch.

Good to know info if I ever need to replace my original piece. Funny how the aftermarket stuff hooks up 180 of stock. I had a actuator valve for my headlight doors like that. Had to swap vacuum hoses on the ports for it to work right, lol. The next valve was then back to stock, go figure. I love my hideaway headlights but I have to swap that valve every couple years as the rubber diaphragm goes bad.
