New York to fine fossil fuel companies
New York state will fine fossil fuel companies a total of $75 billion over the next 25 years.
Let's keep this from going off the deep end but it looks to be something other states will be following New York on. I'm confident we will be seeing it hit us all at the pumps. https://www.ajot.com/news/new-york-t...ew-climate-law

Re: New York to fine fossil fuel companies
.
This is similar to what happened to the Tobacco industry back in the 90s... "In the mid-1990s, more than 40 states commenced litigation against the tobacco industry, seeking monetary, equitable, and injunctive relief under various consumer-protection and antitrust laws.[6] The first case was declared in May 1994 by Mississippi Attorney General Mike Moore." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tobacc...ment_Agreement In that case, the states were seeking to recoup costs associated with Tobacco related disease affecting a large number of folk. This move to seek relief from the very gluttons who contributed the most while knowing full well what the consequences would likely be....well...is going to be fascinating to watch as it plays out. -Kevin

Re: New York to fine fossil fuel companies
If we could only pay the expenses of those NY lawmakers to move to the blissful Peoples Republic of China we'd all be better off.

Ok, great. I hope the fuel companies shut off all transport of incoming fuel, natural gas, and heating oil supplies to the State.

Re: New York to fine fossil fuel companies
And those law makers don't have a clue of exactly who will be paying that 75BILLION$ ? It is us the consumers. Big oil will jack up the price of fuel even more than planned.

Re: New York to fine fossil fuel companies
Soon, a law in MN will take effect that has the result of precluding new Honda motorbikes targeted toward kids from being sold because these are assembled with PFAS containing parts.
“Any products containing intentionally added PFAS that are designed or marketed for use by infants and children under 12 years of age, excluding children’s electronic products or an adult mattress, are included in the juvenile products definition and will be prohibited from sale and distribution in 2025,” the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency says of the new law.

Re: New York to fine fossil fuel companies
And Texas just enacted two new laws that benefit their citizens... MY property taxes are cut in half from 2023... And Texas has eliminated vehicle safety inspections.
